TYPES OF
HAZARD/
EXPOSURE
ACUTE HAZARDS/
SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION
Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting.

EXPOSURE
PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS! STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION

  • Ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
  • Redness. Pain.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
Safety goggles, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection if powder.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Rest. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Evacuate danger area! Consult an expert! Vacuum spilled material. Sweep spilled substance into containers; if appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. then remove to safe place.
Separated from food and feedstuffs. Cool.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
Note: Must be labelled in preparations.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
ODOURLESS, COLOURLESS TO CREAM-COLOURED, CRYSTALLINE SOLID.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
On combustion, forms toxic gases (carbon monoxide --see ICSC#0023, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen chloride --see ICSC#0163).

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.
    MAK not established.

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
    The aerosol irritates

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the the liver and blood
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
    Melting point: 40░C
    Relative density (water = 1): 1.1
    Solubility in water: none
Vapour pressure, Pa at 25░C: Negligible
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 3.5
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
In the food chain important to humans, bioaccumulation takes place, specifically in fish.
    N O T E S
Temperature of decomposition unknown in literature. Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Do NOT take working clothes home. Alochlor, CP 50144, Lasagrin, Lassagrin, Lasso, Lazo, Metachlor, Methachlor, and Pillarzo are trade names.
